Nyamira county governor H.E Amos Nyaribo visited the upcoming agribusiness Industrial Park, in an effort to hasten programs ahead of the expected presidential visit later this month.
The Governor was accompanied by senior government officials, County Executive Committee members among other dignitaries. The president's visit will Mark the commencement of the project, which is projected to greatly change livelihoods among many Nyamira residents.
The United Nations Industrial Development Organization [UNIDO] has already committed more than Ksh 3.4 billion to the project. The completion of the project will be a game changer, an economic boost to the Lake region economic bloc and the whole country. In Africa, this is the third one to be done in Kenya, after Egypt and Ethiopia.
While addressing residents at Sironga, governor Nyaribo assured them of more opportunities to come including employment, a boom in prices of land and many more once the project is complete.
“I urge the contractor to move with speed and ensure that the set 100 ha of land set aside out of the 265 ha is fenced and proper demarcation done,” said the governor adding that once the park is accomplished, it will attract employment of many young people within and outside Nyamira.
Several organizations have already expressed interest, and some have made communication to the county government including the Export Processing Zones (EPZ) that has officially written to the County government, requesting for space within the park,
Toyota Kenya has also show interest to have a space for car assembly, the only center to be in the region. USAID has equally expressed interest in value chain for coffee and tea.
Sironga Agribusiness Industrial park will majorly be doing value addition for agricultural products, and other related value chains.
Esanige Green Stadium, Kiendege Airport, Ekerenyo Sub-county hospital among other projects are expected to be launched too.
