County Policing Authority members sworn in, urged to be dedicated

Nyamira County governor Honourable John Nyagarama has witnessed the swearing in of the County Policing Authority at the county boardroom.

 

In his address to the members, the governor urged them to take their roles and duties seriously as mandated.

 

The team, which will be chaired by Fredrick Motio Onchaba, will be expected to develop proposals for police performance in the county, monitor trends and patterns of crime in the county including those with a specific impact on women and children.

 

They were appointed pursuant to section 41(1) and two of the National Police Service Act of 2011.

 

The Authority, which will work for a contract of three years, will also provide oversight of the budget of the funds of the county policing Authority besides providing a platform through which the public participates on county policing.

 

“The Aforesaid functions and any other duties related to the Authority are expected to be performed with commitment for the realization of its mandate,” said Governor Nyagarama to the team.

 

The members of the authority are Gideon Kerina, Rose Kiyaka, James Okerio and Evans Obanyi.

 

Present during the swearing in was the Deputy Governor Honourable Amos Nyaribo.
