Governor Amos Kimwomi Nyaribo has today joined his colleague Governors and other key stakeholders in the 10th devolution conference held in Eldoret Sports Club, Uasin Gishu County.
The conference whose theme is "10 years of devolution: The Present and Future", with sessions on urban development,natural resource management,affirmative action, trade, health and agriculture was graced by H. E. William Samoei Ruto, the President of the Republic of Kenya.
In his address, the President said the event provides a platform for assessing the progress of devolution, identifying challenges faced by the devolved units and sharing of best practices, ideas and solutions.
He also urged the counties to embrace sustainable resource avenues to support devolution and their development.
Nyamira County on the other hand, had the opportunity to showcase significant milestones that have been achieved since establishment of devolution and H.E. Governor had the golden opportunity to sell the Industrial Park idea to woo more investors and further market the County as a hub for growth and development.
Governor Nyaribo believes that the conference will help transform the socio-economic status of the County as execution of devolved governance enters its second decade.
Key speakers at the event including, Governors, senators as well as other invited dignitaries underscored the need for being United and requested the National Government to channel more resources to counties to spur development.
Counties in the North Rift Economic Bloc (Noreb)were not left behind as they lined up series of activities to showcase the region's vast resources to attract investors as they hope that Eldoret will be elevated into a city someday.
Previously, the Devolution Conference was popularly known as "DEVCON" But now it's a bi-annual event following a resolution of the sixth and final annual devolution conference held in Wote, Makueni County in 2021 where stakeholders agreed that the subsequent conference be held after every two years.
