His Excellency Amos Nyaribo today opened a State of the art Accident and Emergency unit at Nyamira County Referral Hospital.
The facility, with eleven beds with modern equipment, will be handy for emergency patients before getting specialized treatment.
While opening the facility, the governor said he was committed in ensuring that the main referral hospital has modern equipment and specialists in order to offer quality health services.
“We have been longing for this kind of facility because our patients who need emergency services die while on transit to other hospitals outside. More lives will be saved now that we have this unit within our referral hospital,” Mr Nyaribo said.
He said the hospital had also started offering orthopedics services after his government acquired the necessary equipment and employing a specialist medical personnel,” he noted.
“Patients with fractured limbs can be attended to here at our hospital. There is no need for such patients to seek such service outside as our orthopedics unit is fully operational,” Mr Nyaribo said.
He said he will ensure that all heath departments were facelifted in order to improve health service delivery in the County.
“This place (NCRH) will be a state of the art facility. I need support from all quotas instead of being politically maligned.
He took issue with a politician, who he did not name, of peddling falsehood about health services offered in the referral hospital.
“This man claimed that our ambulances were operating without oxygen. He doesn’t even know that we are manufacturing oxygen at our Referral hospital. How can our ambulances operate without oxygen when we have excess of it which we are selling?,” he wondered.
He asked the politician to play mature politics “instead of maligning my government through falsehood.”
