INVESTOR SEEKS TO SET UP COFFEE MILLING PLANT IN NYAMIRA

A South Korean investor is seeking to set up a coffee milling plant in Nyamira.
In a meeting with Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo, Chris Hwang said the plant will enable farmers to sell high-quality coffee directly to the South Korean market.
Mr Hwang is already processing coffee from Ekerenyo in Nyamira, which he sells through his seven Connect Coffee shops in Nairobi and Kisumu. He bought Nyamira coffee at a coffee auction.
Governor Nyaribo welcomed the move, which he said will be a game changer as it will increase income for farmers.
"We will support you in setting up the processing plant. We will also partner to train our farmers to grow high-quality coffee," said the Governor.
The plant, he said, will also serve neighbouring coffee growing counties to get enough quantities for export.
