Nyamira County Government will no longer accept cash payments for all of its revenue services it will render to the public.
Starting this Friday February 9, 2024, all revenue services will be paid through Safaricom line using USSD code *546#, Mpesa paybill 004646.
In a statement, the County Governor H.E Amos Nyaribo said the aim of introducing cashless payment was to seal loopholes his Government had been loosing revenue fraudulently.
“This move will enhance revenue collection, improve service delivery, seal loopholes and help achieve our revenue potential,” he said
Henceforth, he noted, payments including parking, single business permits, stall rent, land rates, County bills and invoices will be cashless or through the existing Nyamira County Government bank accounts.
He directed Executive Committee Members, Chief officers and all staff to put more efforts in ensuring that revenue generated by the County Government has increased to it’s potential.
“We have upgraded our Revenue Management system to closely monitor revenue collection from all revenue streams in real time. This will help in accountability, seal loopholes and help achieve our revenue potential,” the County Boss said.
He urged area residents to embrace the system and pay relevant fees in time in order to enable the County to grow.
The County Government staff have already undergone training on how the cashless system works.
