Nyamira County Government today held a colourful Education Open Day where academic achievement, talent and skills were celebrated.
The occasion held at Nyamira primary school was presided over by the County Governor H.E Amos Nyaribo, as Chief guest.
Governor Nyaribo said his Government will allocate sufficient funds for the fete to be marked annually.
He urged students who do not do well academically to join tertiary institutions, saying technicians were highly valued and were the ones who were driving the world economy.
The County Boss welcomed the proposed University to the region and asked area politicians to accept the decision that will be reached by Commission of Universities over its location.
“ I will accept the decision that will be made by the Commission over its location so longer as it will be within our County. As leaders, we had agreed that university constituents be established in every constituency after first getting the university,” he said.
Governor Nyaribo urged students to have hope in whatever they did in their academics and embrace high integrity to succeed in life.
Nyanza Regional TSC Director Jane Njagi praised the County for marking the Day, the first one to be held in the region.
During the occasion, top performers were awarded with trophies and certificates.
Present were Deputy Governor James Gesami, MPs Steve Mogaka and Irene May aka, County Assembly Speaker Enoch Okero, county staff and education stakeholders.
