Governor Amos Kimwomi Nyaribo has today morning received officials from the Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry(MITI) in his boardroom.
The purpose of the visit is for the implementation team for the County's Aggregation and Industrial Parks (CAIPs) to conduct a site verification exercise and provide technical assistance to the establishment of the CAIPs.
The team will also explore opportunities for support and collaboration in the implementation of CAIPs to enhance agriculture and the value of agricultural products.
Addressing the team during the meeting, Governor Nyaribo stated that the County Government has a ready title deed and a sum of ksh. 250 Million and it's ready to commence phase 1 as they wait for more investors.
" I'm happy to announce that we have our title deed under Nyamira County Government the land is reserved for one Park, we also have ksh. 250 million to kick as off, as from July we are going to erect a wall and front fence" , he said.
He also added that his aim is to create an Industrial and aggregation park that will facilitate value addition and aggregation on agricultural products.
"Our County is blessed with natural resources, let's aid our farmers by sourcing the best markets for their farm produce to ensure they get value for their commodities and make farming an attractive venture to enhance food security in our County", the County boss added.
The delegation from the Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry was led by the Ag. industrialization Secretary and Director of Agro Industries, Mr. Nobby Macharia indicated that the National Government recognizes the vital role played by agriculture and manufacturing sectors in terms of generating, wealth, income and creation of jobs.
"Our main objective is to assist the County Governments develop CAIPs to grow manufacturing and investments through Agro- industries, to benefit actors along the agricultural value chains" Stated Mr. Nobby.
Among the key things they are keen on is the committee that will handle the establishment of the Industrial Parks.
" This is a crucial project, I therefore, urge you to constitute a team with proper defined roles to oversee it's establishment to make accountability easier" He noted.
The CECM for Trade, Benard Maina expressed his gratitude to the team for their commitment towards ensuring the implementation of the CAIPs and stated that he is happy for the farmers because they are going to get better returns from their produce and ready jobs to reduce poverty levels.
"We are ready to support the business environment so that we are able to compete with other business partners", He said.
The Kenya Kwanza Government through the Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry and Council of Governors, chose to start CAIPs in line with the bottom up economic transformation agenda .
The President, Dr William Samoei Ruto has always described the Parks as valuables for investment and magnets of technology that drive production.
Therefore, he is keen to work with Counties to ensure the parks are established to create employment, enhance exports and promote investment.
Earlier this year, the President pledged a sum of Ksh. 500 million to aid Nyamira County put up the Park which Governor Nyaribo describes as a game changer to the community and it's environs.
The team later toured the Sironga industrial park site.
