Nyamira County receives assorted donations in a bid to combat COVID-19 pandemic.

The County Government of Nyamira has received donations from various Institutions to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

The assorted equipment came from the World Vision, Kisii University and The Catholic Medical missionary Board (CMMB).

World vision Kenya led by Mirasine Meiguran, who is the Area Programme  manager, donated 1700 pieces of face masks, Infrared thermometers, waste bins and liners, Sprayer pumps and Gloves while Kisii University, led by Dr. Jackline  Nyaanga, gave  cloth masks and hand washing manuals
 for boda boda operators within Nyamira County. 

Dr. Nyaanga said that Kisii University has identified a team of doctors who are burning the midnight oil to come up with a combination of drugs that can cure COVID-19. In addition, experts from Kisii University are working on standardization of face masks.

The Catholic Medical missionary Board (CMMB), led by Salome Ngili gave their donation of several pieces of face masks, hand gloves, hand washing soap, Disposable full body Personal protection Equipment (PPEs) with eye shields.  

These donations were received by Nyamira County Commissioner Mr. Amos Mariba and County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Health Douglas Bosire among other county officials. 

Mr. Mariba amplified the Government’s position on the fight against COVID-19 adding that the County Government of Nyamira has received close to Ksh.139 million to cushion the elderly, orphans and the disabled.

  The County Commissioner further welcomed all donors and well- wishers who may want to donate anything to go ahead through the County Rapid Response Committee.  

On his side, the Health CECM Mr. Douglas Bosire asked the people of Nyamira to follow the provided health guidelines to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
