Nyamira County Health Services County Executive Committee Member (CECM) Mrs Gladys Momanyi led a delegation from the County government in an official ground breaking ceremony in launching a specialized hospital in Nyamwetureko, Nyamira South Sub-County.
Speaking during the ceremony, Ms Momanyi said that the Eye hospital will be of great importance, being the only one in the region.
”Kisii, Kericho, Homa Bay and Migori have not established one, therefore this among other objectives will become a center of excellence for eye care in the region,” noted the CECM.
She added that the project duration is expected to take nine months before completion, and a total sum of 35M has already been committed adding that already, a technical working committee has been established from the departments of Roads and Public works and Health Services for proper monitoring of the facility.
“I urge the contractor to ensure that the locals also benefit through jobs as the project goes on,”
The community representatives also urged the government to improve the road networks to better standards, so that to access the facility becomes easier a point the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for roads Mr. Jones Omwenga confirmed that, through the ongoing MTF program, all those roads will be improved to the required standards.
