H.E. Amos Nyaribo addressing journalists after launching digitalization of revenue collection for Nyamira County.

COUNTY GOES DIGITAL TO IMPROVE REVENUE COLLECTION

Nyamira County Government today launched a cashless mode of payment in a bid to increase its revenue collection financial base.

To access the service, one is required to dial *856# which takes you to various payment modules.

Alternatively, one can use paybill 004646 or pay directly to the County account or Zizi app which can be downloaded from Google Store or Appstore.

While launching the new mode of payment, H.E Amos Nyaribo instructed the implementing department “to ensure that this form of payment is implemented immediately and to the letter without any excuses because this platform is easier to use,”

The Governor who was accompanied by his deputy Dr James Gesami said the County in the past was losing a lot of revenue through unfaithful collectors.

“The use of this USSD code is expected to reduce revenue losses and make cash collection convenient,” he added.

He said some of the revenue streams that were being targeted through this improved and simplified automation mode include advertisement, agriculture cess, building plan approval, fines and penalties, land rates, liquor licenses, motor bike stickers, matatu stickers and parking fees.

“The implementation of the platform will be evaluated from time to time to establish its efficacy and the difference it shall make in revenue collection,” he noted.

The County Boss said with the new platform, the devolved unit is expecting to double or even triple revenues.
