Nyamira Governor H.E Hon. Amos Nyaribo has today presided over the launch of boreholes, in a ceremony that took place at Magombo ward in Kitutu Masaba Constituency. Access to clean and safe water is among the top priorities in Nyaribo's administration, and essentially a core pillar in all other sectors.

The county government of Nyamira and National Water Harvesting and Storage Authority had signed an agreement for the establishment of 20 boreholes, whereby each ward is set to benefit. 

The Governor was accompanied by a delegation from NWHSA led by the authority's Chairman Mr Erick Okeyo, MBS, who promised to accomplish the assignment in the next three months. He further expressed the authority's commitment in working with the county government of Nyamira.

In the National Water Harvesting and Storage Authority's strategic plan, the 2010 constitution outlines water as a basic Human Right. The plan has also been aligned to;  the sustainable Development goals(SDG), Africa Agenda 2063 and Vision 2030.

The Governor assured residents of his commitment to deliver, and vowed to closely work with stakeholders and other development partners to develop Nyamira County.

Upon the completion of the boreholes, the Governor urged the authority FasTrack the other processes so that residents can access water easily. He asked  the department of water under the stewardship of Mr Samwel Maiko to closely coordinate with the authority in observance of the timelines and other related issues
