County, National governments to jointly build Esanige stadium.

Nyamira County governor H.E Amos Nyaribo together with officials from the Presidential Delivery Unit conducted a survey aimed at initiating the construction of Esanige Green stadium in Nyamira North.

Mr. Joe Okudo, the permanent secretary in the Ministry of sports, Mr. Fred Mteti among other officials accompanied the governor in the survey. 

The team looked at, among others, the size of land, social economic impact and the County government's preparedness on the project.
The Ps confirmed that, in the coming week, the ministry of sports and the county government represented by the CEC for Sports and the County Secretary will sign an agreement before the commencement of the project in June.

On land grabbing, the governor notified any intruders within the demarcated land to vacate before the end of this month.
 “The procurement procedures are expected to be complete by the end of May, before the project will commence officially in the month of June,” said the governor adding that once the contractor is on site, the residents will benefit through jobs. Within the stadium, also a recreation centre, an hotel and a gym section will be established.

The governor asked county government officers to work closely with the sports ministry from the national government, so as to ensure smooth implementation of the project. 

The Governor was accompanied by members of his cabinet- Mr Jones Omwenga (Transport, Roads and Public Works), Dr Grace Nyamongo ( Sports), Mrs Gladys Momanyi ( Health), Also Mr Emmanuel Mokoro- chief officer Gender, Mrs Lilian Kerich- chief officer Roads and Eng. Oruru from public works were present.
