Equity Bank Foundation has donated Personal Protective Equipments to Nyamira’s health sector as a way of supporting the fight against Covid-19.The assorted equipment were handed over to the County governor H.E Amos Nyaribo through the Bank’s Chairman Dr James Mwangi, at the Nyamira County Referral Hospital.
Dr Mwangi assured Governor Amos Nyaribo that the foundation has extended the same support for the next one and half years. Equity has been supporting Nyamira County for the last eighteen months and this program has been of great importance.
In addition, Equity Bank has agreed to support St. Joseph Nyansiongo Mission hospital as one of the measures of improving the county's capacity in handling COVID-19 patients. In the next eighteen months, 60 faith based hospitals will be included in this support program in the whole country.
“We appreciate Equity Foundation’s initiative of supporting the health sector in the fight against Covi-19,” said the Governor while asking other institutions to emulate the same, as Counties are unable to handle the situation because of the budget constraints.
He further urged members of the public to continue observing the Ministry of Health regulations on COVID-19 as this is the only sure way to avoid the Virus.
The Governor also spoke about the wings to fly program, an initiative of Equity Bank that he said has uplifted families through sponsorship.
Also present were Mrs. Gladys Momanyi-CEC Health, Mr. Thomas Nyariki- CEC Public Service Management, Mr. Jones Omwenga- CEC Transport, Roads and Public Works, Dr Grace Nyamongo- Gender, Mr Harrison Momanyi- Education and Dr Jack Magara the Chief officer for Medical Services.
